Beerd opens at Colston Hall

South West brewer, Bath Ales, has converted its Gordito site in Colston Hall into Beerd, one of its popular craft beer bars.

Bath Ales organised a temporary Beerd takeover of Gordito for the BBC6 Music Festival and after a strong weekend for sales and positive feedback from customers, the brewer is excited to open the doors permanently as Beerd from 23 February.

Since the first Beerd venue on St Michael’s Hill opened – Bristol’s first craft beer bar at the time – consumer interest in craft beer has risen and the opportunity to expand Beerd has grown. Taking the total up to three, Beerd has also found a home in Oxford, which opened at the end of last year.

Following in the footsteps of its older Beerd brothers, the new Beerd venue features contemporary, industrial-style design including new lighting features and a menu focused on a diverse, high-quality selection of beers and freshly-made, artisan pizzas.

Central to the menu is the extensive beer list, offering local and international brews from unique and independent producers including its own Beerd range. The venue has the capability and capacity to stock a wide range of flavoursome craft beers of various styles as well as a high-quality bottled beer range.

Duncan Zvonek-Little, operations director at Bath Ales, said:

We think Beerd will be a huge success in its new Colston Hall home. A prime city-centre location, it’s the perfect place for music and theatre fans to catch a drink and something to eat before or after a gig.

Beerd was really well received during the trial run, timed with the BBC6 Music Festival – there were customers queuing out the door for most of the weekend. We ran a special festival menu and gave visitors the chance to experience the diverse beer offering Beerd is renowned for.

Beerd has a unique proposition which has great appeal. Ideal for beer fans and those new to beer, it provides the perfect platform for consumers to experiment and try something a bit different, alongside a delicious Italian-style pizza.

We’ve been thrilled with the reception and support Beerd has received. Bristol is a hot spot for the craft beer market and Colston Hall is the ideal location for this style of outlet to flourish.

Beerd will be opened Monday – Saturday 12pm – 9pm (later when there is a show on in Hall 1) and on Sundays too if there is a show on in Hall 1. Food will be served throughout the day. At lunchtime, smaller ‘pizzette’ will be available along with a take-out service.
